What is the difference between OT and PT in Post-Surgically Post-Partum Intervention?

Thrilled to Join my Colleague Dr. Rebeca Seagraves, DPT and OT colleagues  Elle Russell, Leneice Beasley along with my self (Dr. Josie Jarvis, PP-OTD)with the Pelvic Health Network on a vitally important topic!

What is the difference between OT and PT in post-surgical post-partum Intervention?

I love how helpful Occupational Science is in understanding the symbiotic potential for Occupational and Physical Therapy!

From Rebeca Seagraves:

“The CDC releases annual data that suggests a White race offers a more protective effect against adverse maternal health outcomes.
We present the case of a woman who had everything working in her favor, yet was an exception to this rule.
Occupational and physical therapists discuss the differences in their role on the maternal health team in the hospital and home and the decisions that were made on the perception that this “person was fine” and would likely “not benefit” from rehab services after birth.
Case discussion: could a person’s White race place them at more risk of being neglected for complications such as postpartum preeclampsia and heart failure – especially when the perception is that they have everything they need without an appropriate assessment?
Host: Rebeca Segraves
Special thanks to panel members: Elle Russell, Leneice Beasley, Josie Jarvis OT”
